History
The Dead Rabbit was founded in 2013 by Belfast natives Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, who arrived in New York with a fierce ambition: to build the greatest bar in the world. The name nods to a notorious 19th-century Irish-American gang from the same neighbourhood, and the venue leans fully into that heritage, evoking the saloons and grog shops of old New York with sawdust floors, pewter and gaslight-era charm.
From a standing start, the pair turned a downtown townhouse into a global phenomenon, proving that deep historical research and world-class drinks could share the same room.

The Dead Rabbit's genius lies in its split personality. The ground-floor Taproom serves pints, Irish coffee and easy conviviality, while the upstairs Parlor delivers an ambitious, meticulously researched cocktail list.
